The power of God’s love

Love is a powerful force. It is the foundation upon which the Christian faith is built. Without it, there would be no salvation and redemption, and the entire universe would have been in shambles.

The Bible in 1 John 4:16 says, “God is love.” This short but profound statement describes the true nature of God. The very essence of God is love. He is love personified. His love is pure, true, and fierce.

Unlike human love hinged upon selfish interest and lust, God’s love is unconditional, flowing from Him to the most undeserving.

The ultimate proof of God’s love is sending Jesus, His only Son, to die for sinners (John 3:16). The entire concept of God sending Jesus is so widely taught and known that many believers don’t understand its depth anymore.

Humanity was destined for destruction here on earth and eternal death in the world to come. These punishments for sin are legal, and we deserve them because Ezekiel 18:20 says, “The soul who sins shall die.”

However, God surrendered His only Son to die so that His blood would blot out our sins and make us escape eternal condemnation (Romans 6:23). Now, this is love at its peak.

Jesus also proved His love by giving His life. “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13).

Therefore, we are what we are today because of God’s love for us. Love called us out of darkness, set us apart, and made us God’s own (1 Corinthians 15:10).

God has given us His love, and this love, which resides in our hearts, must be demonstrated to others as proof that we are Christ’s disciples. “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love” (1 John 4:8).

With God’s love, we can conquer evil, soften a stony heart and transform people’s lives. We can win souls into God’s kingdom by demonstrating genuine love to people around us.

The world is already hard and full of wickedness. People are lost in the dark and languishing in pain caused by the enemy and his cohorts.

Therefore, people are desperately searching for comfort and healing. They are looking for shoulders to lean on and a soothing voice of encouragement to minister peace to their souls.

God has empowered us through His love to go into the world and shine our light in the gross darkness that has enveloped it (Isaiah 60:2, Matthew 5:14–16).

God’s love is the binding force that binds us together as believers. It helps us to live together and be united in purpose and in one voice, waging war against the enemy’s camp, pulling resources together for the progress of God’s kingdom, and making an impact on the world at large (Deuteronomy 32:30, Acts 44-47)

Let God’s love rule your heart so that you will be able to please God and live in peace and unity with people (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
